Only 12% of IT service providers can show AI is paying off

In a survey of 153 managed IT service providers, 32% have adopted AI internally and 12% report measurable productivity gains. Only 14% consistently apply a documented AI governance framework for customers using Copilot or other AI tools. The survey was sponsored by Nerdio, which sells management software to these providers.

Why it matters: Many small businesses rely on an outside IT provider to set up tools like Copilot. Ask yours how they handle AI settings, data access and governance before you switch anything on.

Google Meet now posts AI meeting recaps to Chat by default

After a Google Meet call using "Take notes for me", a recap with a summary, decisions and action items now posts in the meeting's Google Chat space. It is on by default for Workspace organizations with Gemini turned on, including Business Standard and Business Plus, with Scheduled Release domains getting it from October 27.

Why it matters: Meeting summaries will now reach everyone in the Chat space automatically. Check who is in those spaces, and for sensitive meetings set notes to go to hosts and co-hosts only.

One hacker used AI agents to break into 100-plus company websites

A Chinese-speaking hacker used AI agents to break into more than 100 company websites in the US, Canada, Australia and Japan, Tom's Hardware reports, citing Reuters and researchers at security firm NorForge. SharkNinja said only a site for product support information was affected.

Why it matters: AI lets one attacker probe many businesses at once, so being small no longer keeps you off the list. Keep your website, plugins and admin panels up to date, and don't leave control panels open to the internet.

Microsoft adds tools to restrict or shut down risky AI agents

Microsoft unveiled tools that give each AI agent a continuously updated risk score and let admins limit it to reading data, require a person to approve high-stakes steps, or shut it down, GeekWire reports. The features are part of Microsoft 365 E7 and in private preview, with broader availability planned for Microsoft Ignite on November 17 to 19.

Why it matters: Big vendors now treat AI agents like staff who need limited access and oversight. Even without these tools, decide which tasks your AI tools can do alone and which need a person to sign off.

Meet the founder

Hi, I'm Chioma Susan Nwade, founder of Zovalor. I've worked across consulting, finance and e-commerce, helping teams use data to make better decisions. I hold an MSc in Business Analytics and am an MBA candidate at the USC Marshall School of Business (Class of 2027).

I started Zovalor because I kept seeing the same thing: talented business owners and product teams who knew AI could change what they were capable of, but were left with hype, scattered tools and subscriptions that never moved them forward. AI is the biggest shift in how we work in a generation, and I don't believe its benefits should belong only to companies with the biggest budgets. Zovalor exists to close that gap, so you can use AI with clarity and confidence, grow what your business can do, and keep your data and reputation safe along the way.
